Is Senior Citizen Home a Good or Bad Thing?
A senior citizen home can be a suitable alternative for elderly people who have started becoming dependent to others. Interestingly, some people consider this place as an annoyance, while others feel that it is a godsend place. This article explores the advantages and disadvantages of this senior citizen home. The advantages of senior citizen home Everyone will pass away someday and this is the truth that you cannot decline. Old age can become a painful experience, especially when you cannot take care of yourself without the help from others. In a family, when parents have become old, it can be a difficult task for children to take care of them. Children has become an adult and they need to go to work, which means that they need to leave their elderly parents alone at home. This is an advantage of a senior citizen home since you can send your parents or loved ones to this place and you can be rest assured that they are being taken care of. Another good advantage of a senior citizen home is social life. At this facility, elderly people can interact with others of their own age. This is a good thing especially because elderly people are being neglected at home. The grandchildren have their own friends while children have works and social life so elders normally feel lonely. As you might aware, loneliness is perhaps the most difficult situation to any man. The disadvantages of senior citizen home If you have a small boy at home who cannot take care of himself, then you will arrange a day care center while you are working. This is a common thing to do and in fact this is a matter of convenience and safety for all involved. However, when an elderly person is placed in a senior citizen home, this can create a big traumatic experience. Some reports mentioned that three of every five elders, who cannot take care of themselves anymore, prefer to welcome death in their own homes rather than staying at a senior citizen home, if they have a choice. Unfortunately, these people normally do not have much to say anymore and are not given the right to choose what they want. It is indeed a heart breaking to see an old person being sent to the senior citizen home. It seems that these people are being degraded to an object. Some elders feel that they are small, helpless, and unimportant, which obviously is not the way someone should spend the rest of his or her days.
